3. What is the best way to install my new lights or ceiling fan? Back to Top

  • There are actually installation instructions included in every lighting or fan common box we sell. If that you're at all uncomfortable with the instructions we recommend you contact any nearby licensed contractor or electrical contractor.

4. Casting or Stamping - How are they different? Back to Top

  • Casting is usually heavier with more detail and many more durability, whereas stamping is without a doubt lighter and usually includes less detail. Generally, cast fixtures are slightly higher priced than stamped products.

5. What is the difference between damp & wet locations? Back to Top

  • In case your fixture is listed when "Damp" it means it has been tested to withstand brightness moisture or raised humidity like condensation or a light mist but are not supposed to get humid. When a fixture is definitely listed as "Wet", it indicates that it can withstand heavier weather which include snow and/or rain, having been exposed to a 'rain test'.

  • To start with, know your budget. Second, if possible, look to get pictures from magazines in which reflect your taste. Next, collect fabric swatches or color chips for the area you are re-decorating.

Please Note: If the chandelier is heavier than 50 pounds, it should be mounted more securely to the ceiling or wall. Make sure there is enough room to do so.

8. Steel vs. Solid Brass - How do you tell the difference? Back to Top

  • Simply place a magnet on the metal portion of a brass lighting fixture. If it sticks, it’s steel. If it doesn’t, it’s solid brass, which is generally more costly.

9. How do I clean my fixture? Back to Top

  • Make certain electric current is turned off before cleaning.
  • Clean metal components along with a soft cloth, moistened using a mild liquid soap cleaner. Wipe clean and buff along with a very soft dry wash cloth. Under no circumstances should any metal polish be used, as its abrasive nature could damage the protective finish designed into the metal parts.
  • Wood components could very well be polished with a fine furniture polish, taking care in order to avoid getting the polish around the metal surfaces.
  • Never wash glass shades in an automatic dishwasher, line a sink by using a towel and fill with warm water and a mild fruit juice soap. Wash glass accompanied by a soft cloth, rinse in addition to wipe dry.
